The mission of the Oakland Fashion Network is to connect Oakland and Bay Area fashion designers and industry professionals to share resources, ideas and promote events. We strive to connect designers with sewers, patternmakers, and suppliers. We promote Oakland fashion designers to create an enthusiastic audience that is excited to support them.
We are making Oakland a destination for fashion!
Founded in January 2014, we have been hosting bi-monthly networking meetings, as well as quarterly events such as panel discussions, pop up shops, and fashion shows. Meetings are held every other month, typically on the 3rd Thursday at 6pm.
The founders of OFN are Paula Pfotenhauer and Sherry Koyama. Paula is the designer of Jeaja and has worked in quality control in overseas factories. She is experienced in all aspects of production from sample sewing, patternmaking, grading, and sourcing.
Sherry is the designer of a contemporary women’s line, Harumi K. She is a graduate of the patternmaking program at Apparel Arts and has degrees in Art and Psychology from UC Davis. As of spring 2018, she has relocated to Seattle and has stepped down from an active role in OFN.
