Oakland Fashion Network is excited to present our first legal Q&A tailored specifically for apparel and accessory designers. We will have two legal experts sharing valuable information to help guide your creative business ventures.

Speakers:

Crystal Cole Matson, the principal attorney and founder of Chrysalis Legal will join us to share her expertise regarding legal matters related to apparel and accessory designers.  She has experience working with businesses at varying levels and she strives to empower individuals, provide critical business and legal advice and protect business owners.

Topics will include:

1) Complying with labeling requirements by the Federal Trade Commission

2) Federal Trade Commission disclosure rules for fashion blog sponsorships

3) Choosing an entity for your fashion empire

4) Protecting your intellectual property (brand and design)

Myrrhia Resneck, designer and owner of Myrrhia Fine Knitwear. Myrrhia Fine Knitwear is a socially responsible fashion brand specializing in natural fiber knitwear made ethically in Oakland, California. Myrrhia is also a lawyer specializing in contracts, compliance, real estate, and the apparel business. She will be sharing her knowledge of:

1. Compliance with laws governing the apparel business at the State level
2. Contracts with your retailers and suppliers
